CONNELL HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCES NEW DUAL CREDIT ARTICULATION AGREEMENT FOR EARLY COLLEGE CREDIT!
\r\nConnell, Washington – Connell High School proudly announces a new CTE Dual Credit articulation agreement that will provide students the opportunity to earn FREE college credits while still in high school.
\r\nThe newest CTE Dual Credit articulation offers students enrolled in the CDL Preparatory class the chance to earn free college credit towards completing their Class A CDL license. Qualifying students in CHS’s 2023 CDL Preparatory class cohort can now earn early college credit with Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) for 9 of the 15 credits necessary to complete their Truck Driver Training program.
\r\n"We're excited to finalize this agreement and offer students a head start on earning their commercial truck driving license," said Keeley Gant, CTE Director for ESD123 serving North Franklin School District. "We are fortunate to create a seamless pathway for students to earn their certification in a low cost, high-quality model that will lead to high wage employment and help address the growing skills gap for qualified drivers."
\r\nThe program will be available to CHS high school students who are enrolled in the CDL Preparatory class at CHS and who meet the B or better minimum GPA requirement. Upon enrollment at WWCC, students can request the early college credit be added to their transcript and will only need to complete the remaining 6 Truck Driver Training Lab hours as required for final testing and certification.
\r\nThe CTE Dual Credit Articulation for the Connell High School’s CDL preparatory course is part of NFSD’s larger commitment to education and investing in the next generation of leaders. In total, students enrolled at CHS have the opportunity to access 38 free college credits through the CTE Dual Credit programs at Walla Walla Community College and Columbia Basin College. North Franklin School District aims at providing affordable and equitable student access to higher education and success in their academic and professional pursuits.
