North Franklin School District is excited to announce our new telehealth partnership with Hazel Health. Tele mental health is the use of technology to provide counseling / mental health care virtually.

\r\n

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, one in five children and adolescents experience mental health problems during their school years and 44% of teens feel persistently sad or hopeless. In many areas, students have to wait up to 7 months for an appointment with a therapist.

\r\n

Over the last two years, the NFSD has seen a drastic increase in the number of students and parents seeking counseling services at all grade levels.

\r\n

All Hazel visits are "virtual visits", through a tablet, desktop, or other smart device. Through targeted use of the COVID relief funds allocated to the NFSD, over the next three years, students will have access to online counseling with licensed therapists, in their home language. Students can receive their counseling visits at home under the supervision of the parent or, with parent consent, on-site at the school under the supervision of a staff member. After a parent referral and consent are completed a therapy visit will typically be scheduled within two days. Therapists can help your child with how they are feeling including stress, depression, anxiety, bullying, grief, trauma, and more.

\r\n

This service will be provided free to ALL registered North Franklin School District students K-12 starting today. This three-year partnership will be funded completely with COVID relief funds that the district was allocated to assist in meeting student needs brought on by the pandemic.
